How to Write Prompts

The prompt formula that produces usable STLs, SVGs, PNGs, and PDFs on the first try.

01Let's write prompts that generate perfect STLs, SVGs, PNGs, and PDFs.

02Every MakerMint prompt has the same backbone: what the object is, what it looks like, how big it is, and what machine it's for.

03Start plain. 'Pumpkin straw topper' is a better first prompt than a paragraph of adjectives — you can always add detail on the second pass.

04Then add the maker constraints: bore size for toppers, cut-only paths for laser, transparent background for sublimation, margin-safe layout for PDFs.

05Skip anything the engine already handles. You never need to ask for a watertight mesh or a closed path — MakerMint Core Engine™ enforces those for you.

06Generate, look at the preview, change one thing, generate again. Two or three passes is normal and it's much faster than starting over.

07When a prompt gives you a result you'd sell, save it as a preset so your whole catalog stays on-brand.

Key takeaways

  • Object first, detail second
  • State machine constraints, not engine guarantees
  • Change one variable per regeneration
